eBay a Bust for Some Big Ticket Cars

All this week I was watching the Red Sox red 2005 SL65 AMG convertible Mercedes-Benz on eBay, up for auction by David Ortiz. Bidding reached $465,000 on Thursday, eight hours before auction end. According to courant.com however, bidding reached $525,000 but most were ruled out or retracted. This morning sees the end bidding page with a starting price of $169,000.00 and 0 bids.  John Schneider also faced similar problems back in May when he first listed the famous General Lee 1969 Dodge Charger on eBay. The car went for $6M but they were duped bids. Apparently the sale was successful on the second listing however. It seems that more and more eBay is losing its big ticket appeal as fraudulent bidding is just too common on these types of luxury items.
